Projects

The staff at Total Ecology have experience of working on an extensive range of projects for organisations as diverse as Natural England, DEFRA, Wildlife Trusts, Local Councils, NPower and many private individuals. We have considerable experience in delivering all aspects of an ecological project and believe that the service that we offer is second to none. We have listed some of our more interesting recent projects below as an example of the services that we can offer.

White Young Green Environmental

Total Ecology were contracted by White Young Green to carry out specialist botanical surveys of Tilbury Power Station. Including NVC, aquatic macrophytes, fungi, lichens and bryophytes.

Northumberland County Council

Total Ecology were commissioned in 2009 to carry out bat surveys on 6 schools in Northumberland to progress planning applications for demolition and re-modelling works. Initial bat risk assessments were undertaken at the schools and nocturnal surveys were carried out at 5 of them over the summer of 2009. We then advised on suitable mitigation and enhancement measures so that the applications could be progressed through the planning system

Natural England

Total Ecology have recently been contracted to provide training to professional advisers, on behalf of Natural England, in the completion of Farm Environment Plans and Environmental Stewardship Applications. To date 3 events have been run in the north west region and a further event is scheduled in the north east region.

North Tyneside and Newcastle City Councils

Total Ecology were awarded a contract to carry out Great Crested Newt surveys of a number of ponds in the North Tyneside and Newcastle council area and for providing training of council staff.

NPower Renewables

Total Ecology have recently been contracted to carry out a range of specialist botanical surveys for NPower Renewables at a site in Perthshire. These include NVC of a range of mires and specialist bryophyte surveys for the European protected species Slender green Feather- moss.
