BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes

Undertaking BREEAM services
BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) and the Code for Sustainable Homes (formerly Ecohomes) are the standard tools for assessing environmental sustainability of new developments and for refurbishments of existing buildings.

In both BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes assessments, points are available under a range of categories including Ecology. The performance of the development is then assessed against each of these categories and an overall score awarded depending on the number of points achieved.

Some of the credits under ecology are only available following a site visit and production of a report by a Suitably Qualified Ecologist (SQE). Total Ecology are able to provide an SQE to carry out the necessary assessments and to maximize the points that can be awarded under the Ecology sections of the BREEAM Codes.

Our BREEAM surveys are geared specifically to providing the information to carry out the assessment, in order to maximize the number of credits that can be awarded. If you would like further information then please do not hesitate to contact us and one of our experienced ecologists will be happy to assist.
